Division 24 established 2005 turns 20 this year.
In that 20 years we have supported Wakefield's skate scene not only through business but externally too.
The skate scene in Wakefield has been around for 40 plus years, starting in the late 70's with outdoor parks located in Altofts (Birkwood Farm) and Westgate and then making a come back in the early 90s with Rehab Indoor skatepark in the old DSS Skills Centre on Doncaster Rd (at the time, one of only 2 indoor skateparks in the UK)
I prioritised securing a skateboarding facility in Wakefield to improve sales and nurture the skateboarding community for years to come. With Ben Powell and Jed Capper of the Westmoreland Centre plus likeminded figures a skatepark committee was founded. For three years I attended every council meeting until the park was finally completed in 2009.
We want to celebrate this amazing community alongside the 20th anniversary by holding events throughout July, August and September (July and August dates and locations to be announced)
