Creature Skateboards

If a wider planks and horror-themed graphics are you for then we’ve got you covered with a range of ghoulish decks from Creature Skateboards at Division 24 Skate Store.

Creature Skateboards began in 1994, founded by ex-Santa Monica Airlines team manager and artist Russ Pope (which may come as a surprise if you’re more familiar with that name from his more recent and less terror-inducing skateboard company, Transportation Unit). The original team line-up was made up of Barker Barrett, Jason Adams and Darren Naverrette. However, shortly after Adams and Pope left to form Scarecrow Skateboards in 1995, the brand was put on ice for half a decade.

That was until the early 2000s when NHS Distribution (home to Santa Cruz Skateboards, Independent Trucks and OJ Wheels) brought the brand back from the dead – a fitting part of the company’s history given their love of horror and ongoing visuals which pay homage to the genre. With the current incarnation lead by original team rider Darren ‘The Vert Vampire’ Naverrette and Lee Charron, the company has gone on to become one of the most loved brands by transition skateboarders which is no surprise as their decks tend lean towards the larger end of the spectrum and the company offers some of the widest boards on the market. Considering their current team which includes transition beasts Chris Russel, Jimmy Wilkins, Taylor Bingaman, Truman Hooker, Willis Kimbel and Livingston’s finest, Stu Graham – it’s even less of a surprise the brand is loved by ramp fanatics worldwide. However, there are also a fair fair share of street fiends thrown into the mix with longstanding members including David Gravette and Al Partenan alongside never blood in the form of Kevin Beakkel and all-terrain Brazillian madman, Milton Martinez.

Constantly productive across nearly two decades, Creature Skateboards have dropped five full-length videos; Born Dead (2006), Black Metal (2007), Hesh Law (2009) and CSFU (2013) with the simply titled The Creature Video being their latest vicersal offering in 2018.
