‘Now & Then’ is a celebration of Wakefield skateboarding past and present. Created for Division 24 Skate Store’s twentieth anniversary, this limited edition zine documents 40 years of Wakefield skateboarding over as many pages.
From deep cut newspapers clippings of the late 1970s, to the archives of Sidewalk Magazine, into thriving scene that emerged from Thornes Park in the 2010s, to the faces travelling from elsewhere to skate Wakefield to this day, ‘Now & Then’ is all that you may have missed but maybe even witnessed.
‘Now & Then’ features the work of some of the UK’s most notable skateboarding magazine photographers including Wig Worland, Leo Sharp, Percy Dean, Chris Johnson, Reece Leung, Sam Ashley and Will Linford as well local heads including Callum Christie, Josh Hunter, George Reid, Tim Smith and many more.
Generations old and new, friends and family of Division 24, the occasional professional who has passed through Wakefield into local folklore and the Division 24 shop team of Paul Watson, Aiden Blaymire, Frank Spacey, Dave Morgan, Sam Taylor, Alan Callaghan, John Sykes, Jasmine Lowe and Adam Weaver appear. The zine stems from an exhibition which will take place on Division 24’s twentieth anniversary part on 6 September; our sincere thanks to the wonderful skateboarders who dug into their archives to help make it happen.
